Cultural Festivals (2022-Present)

Prayogillu annually celebrates both regional “Telangana” and national cultural festivals of India, fostering social relations and friendships among local communities. These cultural festivals play a vital role in reclaiming public spaces for women, allowing them to become active subjects and express their agency. Notably festivals such as Bonalu, Bathukamma, Ugadi, Rakhi, Diwali, Holi, and Rangoli. During these festive occasions, women and girls take center stage, creating a vibrant atmosphere with their traditional dress and ornamentation. The Bathukamma festival, in particular, sees women and girls engaging joyful expression of folk songs and dance. Other elements, such as the intricate art of rangoli and the application of mehendi, contribute to the richness of these cultural festivals. Prayogillu’s commitment to cultural festivals goes beyond mere observance; it actively contributes to building a holistic community. These festivities momentarily suspend hierarchies, transcending social status, and empowering women to perform their agency as active subjects in public spaces.
